Come And See |
“MALE AND FEMALE” And Our Nation In our nation there is a constant blur between “male and female”. While we have our average “tomboy”, or an effeminate male here and there, there is the more recent call for gay and lesbian rights. Our judicial system continues to make exceptions to laws and rules already established in our nation and most importantly, in God’s word. In recent times we have even seen that marriage, as a Divine institution between a man and a woman, is being challenged and judged proper for two men or two women. In the news we have seen that an Episcopalian bishop has been appointed to serve in the church after admitting to being gay. Also, in California there have been discussions of legalizing same sex marriages, which may be in every state soon. Do we forget that this is sin, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Prov. 14:34) In this article we want to examine the Bible for “male and female” to indeed prove that God is not reverenced by modern views of marriage and family.
MALE AND FEMALE From The Beginning To Our Day In the beginning, God created… “male and female”. The Bible says in Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” God created us in His image and made a clear distinction between male and female. As a matter of fact, the reason woman (female) was created, was for the man. It is written in Genesis 2:20-24 “for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man." Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”. This is God’s plan for marriage!!! Notice first that man needed a helper “comparable” to him…not exactly like him. God had previously said in Genesis 2:18, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him." Also take note that God’s purpose for making them male and female was to replenish the earth and multiply human kind within its boundaries. By inspiration we read, “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it…”. If homosexuality, whether gay or lesbian, was something God ordains, then women could reproduce with women and men with men…this is absurd and impossible (almost not worthy of writing about) God made man and women to dwell together in marriage from the beginning and we should not think that this has changed. Only 2000 years ago Jesus, the Son of God walked this earth answering questions regarding marriage saying in Matthew 19:4-6, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? "So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate." What truth! “What God has joined together (male and female) let not man separate”. Just as God made the animals to reproduce after their own kind (Gen. 1:22), God has made man and woman to dwell together in the bond of marriage fulfilling each others needs.
In the days of Noah (Genesis 6) the earth was filled with wickedness. The Lord prepared Noah for a worldwide flood that would cleanse the earth of unrighteousness. (Romans 1:26-32) In order that life could continue, God took Noah, who had found grace in His eyes, along with his family to safety in an ark that God commanded him to build. The Bible teaches us that in order for life to continue after the flood, God made provisions for one male and female of every species, along with the families of Noah and his sons (one man and one woman per family). It is penned, “But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall go into the ark-- you, your sons, your wife, and your sons' wives with you. And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive. And you shall take for yourself of all food that is eaten, and you shall gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for you and for them. Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.” (Genesis 6:18-22). What if Noah had a similar view of homosexuality that our world lives by today? We all know that this would have eliminated him from finding grace in the Lord’s eyes and from ever entering the ark in safety. What if no female ever entered the ark? We would not be here today!!! God has a purpose in making us male and female…let’s start standing up for His purposes in our lives. The Bible tells us that after the flood in Genesis 8:14-19, that God called those in the ark out by their families to again multiply and replenish the earth. This nation needs to wake up and remember that there is going to be a day of judgment in which all sin will be recompensed with an eternal punishment (Rev. 21:8 II Thess. 1:7-10). We also need to realize that the blessings that we share in this country are made available by the powerful hand of God. If we think for a moment that God will continue His blessings while we continue our unrighteousness…we are foolish. So many nations have fallen by excluding God and His commandments from their lives. The Bible tells us that God said in Lev 18:22-30, “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion. Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you… Therefore you shall keep My ordinance, so that you do not commit any of these abominable customs which were committed before you, and that you do not defile yourselves by them: I am the LORD your God.’” Male and female should respect the Divine order for which they were created and seek individually for God’s will in their life. |
