Come And See

What Do We Need To Hear From The Truth?

Introduction.

1. We have without a doubt covered the subject of truth in many of our lessons, but why do we need lessons such as these.

2. Some things that we need to keep in mind is what do we need to hear from the word of God which is truth?

3. We know we need to hear the truth, but what specifically do we need to be informed of in the word of God.

4. We know what we need to hear from the truth because we have heard :

-What Peter preached in Acts 2:36-41;

-What Stephen preached in Acts 7:51-60; and

-What Paul preached (Galatians 1:13-16 Paul’s former life Galatians 4:16;Acts 20:20,27.)

-These men knew what to preach, and to teach, that they might touch the hearts of those that heard them.

-Acts 2:37 “They were pricked to the heart”

-Acts 7:54 “They were cut to the heart”

-Acts 20:20, 27 “Declare unto you all the counsel of God”

-All of these men preached the truth of God and nothing less, and in many cases were mistreated, (Stephen stoned to death, and Paul being called the enemy of God) but whatever the case may be they taught many wonderful lessons.

-What we will attempt to do today is repeat all of those things that these men had taught on one occasion or another, that we might hear the word of God today, and that we might be touched in our hearts with the truth.

I. WHAT DO WE NEED TO HEAR FROM THE TRUTH

A. We need to hear about Christ!                   I Corinthians 1:23-24

1. The life of Christ                                Hebrews 4:15; I John 2:6

2. The death of Christ                              I Peter 2:23-24; Matthew 27: 45-50

3. The burial of Christ                              Matthew 27:57-60

4. The resurrection of Christ                Matthew 28:1-6

-We have to know about the life of Christ and the example that He left for us to follow, that that we might know how to conduct ourself in this life and be free from sin as He was.

B. We need to about sin!                        I John 3:4

1. The origin of sin.                            Romans 5:12

2. The guilt of sin                                Romans 3:23

3. The consequence of sin                   Romans 6:23

4. The forgiveness of sin                     Colossians 1:12-14

---We can see that sin began with one man, and from that all have sinned; seeing that the consequence is death we had better lay hold of the redemption from sin that is available in Christ that that we do not suffer the consequences and spend eternity in hell with all those that were disobedient in the past.

C. We need to hear about salvation.               Acts 4:12

1. Believe                                                Romans 10:17; John 8:24

2. Repent                                                Acts 17:30; II Peter 3:9

3. Confess                                              Matthew 10:32-33; Romans 10:9-10

4. Baptized                                             Galatians 3:27; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38

---We definitely need to understand that salvation only comes through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and if we are not willing to see that the Bible acknowledges that these things save us from sin, we cannot obtain the salvation of our souls in Christ Jesus.

---We must follow the truth on this matter or we could be led astray as many are today...

D. We need to hear about discipleship.           John 8:31-32

1. Follow                                                I Peter 2:21; Luke 9:23

2. Sacrifice                                             Matthew 19:16-22, 27; Romans 12:1

3. Loyal                                        II Timothy 4:7 See the opposite in vs. 10

4. Reward                                               II Timothy 4:8; I Corinthians 15:58.
